What we collect and why

Contact form

When you write to us through the contact form, we receive your name, email address, the topic you chose and your message. The form delivers them to our mailbox as an email, and the website itself keeps no copy. We use them to answer you.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us, or steps you ask us to take before a contract (GDPR Article 6(1)(f) and (b)). We keep the email for as long as the conversation needs, and delete it no later than three years after our last contact with you, unless it becomes part of a reservation record.

Email updates

If you sign up under "Be the first to know" and tick the consent box, your email address goes on our mailing list at Sender.net, together with the date you signed up. We use it to email you about the Melta MK1, its Kickstarter launch and the slicer.

The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a)). Every email has an unsubscribe link. Once you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you, we stop emailing you and delete your address from the list.

Reservations

When you reserve a Melta MK1, Stripe's checkout page collects your name, email address, billing and shipping addresses, your VAT ID if you enter one, and your payment details. Payment details go to Stripe only: we never see your card number. We receive the rest, and the website emails a notice of each paid reservation to our team inbox.

We use this data to hold your reservation and the discount it gives you, to contact you before the Kickstarter launch and the first deliveries, to process refunds and to keep the accounting and tax records the law requires. The legal bases are the contract you make with us (Article 6(1)(b)) and our legal obligations (Article 6(1)(c)). We keep reservation records while the reservation is open, and after that for as long as Czech accounting and tax law requires, currently up to 10 years.

Analytics

Only if you accept analytics in the cookie banner, the site loads PostHog. It records which pages you visit, what you click, your browser and device type, and a replay of your visit in which every form field is masked. It sets a cookie whose name starts with ph_ to recognise your browser on later visits. PostHog uses your IP address to estimate your country and then discards it.

The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time under "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page, which also deletes the cookie. Session replays are deleted after 30 days. Other analytics data is kept only while it helps us improve the site, and no longer than two years.

Running the website

Every request to melt3d.eu passes through Cloudflare, which hosts the site. For security and troubleshooting, Cloudflare and our own logs briefly record technical details of requests, such as your IP address, the page requested and your browser type. To stop the forms being misused, the site counts recent form submissions from each IP address for up to an hour, without storing the address in our own systems.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website (Article 6(1)(f)). These logs are deleted after a few days.

Who else handles your data

These companies process personal data for us, under contracts that require them to protect it:

  • Cloudflare, Inc. (USA): hosting, network security and delivering form emails to our inbox.
  • Stripe Payments Europe, Limited (Ireland): payments and refunds for reservations. For fraud prevention and its own legal obligations Stripe also acts as a controller, under the Stripe privacy policy.
  • UAB Sender.lt (Lithuania): the Sender.net mailing list and the emails sent from it.
  • PostHog, Inc. (USA): analytics, stored in PostHog's EU cloud in Frankfurt, only with your consent.
  • WebSupport s.r.o. (Slovakia): our email mailbox, where contact form messages and reservation notices arrive.

We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.

Transfers outside the EU

Cloudflare and PostHog are US companies, and Stripe belongs to one, so some data may be accessed from or stored in the USA. Such transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the company is certified under it, and otherwise on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Cookies and local storage

  • melt3d_consent, in your browser's local storage: remembers your cookie choice for 182 days. It is strictly necessary and always set.
  • ph_ followed by our PostHog project key, a cookie: recognises your browser for analytics, for up to a year. Set only if you accept analytics.

The site sets no other cookies. Stripe's checkout page runs on stripe.com and sets its own cookies under Stripe's policy.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • get a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • have it corrected if it is wrong;
  • have it deleted, unless we must keep it by law;
  • have its use restricted while a question about it is open;
  • receive the data you gave us in a machine-readable format;
  • object to uses based on our legitimate interest;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting what was done before.

Write to info@melt3d.eu. We answer within one month. You can also complain to the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů), Pplk. Sochora 27, 170 00 Praha 7, uoou.gov.cz, or to the data protection authority in your own EU country.

Automated decisions

We do not make decisions about you by automated means, including profiling, that have legal or similarly significant effects.

Changes to this policy

When what we collect or how we use it changes, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects data you have already given us, we tell you by email first.
